Gabriele Glodenyte who died tragically in a crash in Dublin will be discussed. We will look at her life and that of her career in cycling.
Who was Gabriele Glodenyte?
She was a 24 year old from Drogheda. She had a partner who goes by the name Sean Landers.
She had a degree in “Management Science and Information Systems Studies (MSISS) from Trinity College Dublin”.
She was a cyclist whose record include a victory in the the “Cycling Ireland National Road Series last year, during which she won the Brian O’Loughlin Memorial in Co Mayo”.
The late Microsoft manager also won the “Newry Three Day race in Co Down and twice competed in Rás na mBan”.
The pair were cycling at the time of the unfortunate incident.
Mist Gabriele Glodenyte was a popular leading road racing cyclist. The late 24 year old was equally a manager at Microsoft.
She lost her life in that brutal crash in Dublin on Saturday.
The sad incident reportedly occurred at approximately 12:50pm at Grallagh in Garristown.
She was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. Her remains were taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for a post-mortem.
Sean Landers mourns his partner Gabriele Glodenyte.
Her partner seem heart broken given that he witnessed the whole incident unfold right infront of him.
He shared a tribute online in which he said:”I can’t believe I have to make this post, but I want to let everybody know that unfortunately Gabriele’s life was taken from us all too soon, doing what she loved. On Saturday afternoon, on our cycle together, she was struck head on by a car, and killed. Thank you to everyone for the kind messages I’ve received. RIP Gabriele.”
The Irish Cycling union also issued a statement in which they said:
“On behalf of all of our members, Cycling Ireland would like to extent our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, club-mates and all who knew her. Our thoughts are with them at this devastating time.”

The Vélo Club Balrothery which she was a member also paid tribute to Ms Glodenyte in a postTheir tribute read: “The members of Velo Club Balrothery wish to express their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Gabriele Glodenyte who passed away tragically on Saturday while doing what she loved.
“A rising star for UCD Cycling, with a number of wins in her debut season last year including the overall crown at Cycling Ireland’s Road National Series. In winning the women’s category at the Gorey 3 day last year, Gabriele placed 15th overall in the GC against a stacked field. This was the highest ever placing of a female athlete in the history of the race.
“Gabriele’s achievements are a huge inspiration to us all. Our thoughts are with her family, Sean and friends at this time”.
