Meet Lesley Mumford:Transgender cyclist forced to stand alone on podium after win

We will look at Lesley Mumford, the transgender woman who was left alone at the podium after a cycling competition which she won.

Who is Lesley Mumford?

She is a Colorado transgender woman who took part in a cycling competition.

Mumford is said to have  transitioned in 2017 while he was a Colorado SWAT team leader.

She is a 46 year old woman.

She won the race and was shocked to discover that other competitors who won the race did not turn up on the podium.

Lesley Mumford was left alone after the other competitors bailed.

She took part in her age category coming first ahead of  “second-place racer Lindsey Kriete” and “third-place rider Michelle Van Sickle“.

She won the  female category of “Sunday’s 100-mile Desert Gravel Co2Ut”.

Mumford who had no idea why her competitors bailed wrote on social that:

“I have no idea why so many people bailed before the podiums, but they did.”
She added:

“I swear I wasn’t the only one in my age group,”  talking about her other 43 competitors who finished after her.

Why did Lesley Mumford competitors bailed?

Critics say her competitors did not show up on the podium as way of protest. They say the women decision was a  “silent protest.”

Inga Thompson, a 3 times Olympian as well as a “10-time National Champion and medalist at the Tour de France” tweeted that:“The silent protests are starting!.

“The women are refusing to stand on the podium with the man! Well done!!!”.

Famous outspoken critic of transgender athletes, Riley Gaines also wrote:“Enough is enough!”

“Empty podium except for the male who naturally finished atop all the women in the women’s category. Despite there being a non-binary/trans category he easily could have competed in. Keep it up girls!” she wrote, with a “#SaveWomensSports” Lesley Mumford
