He had his first day in court today at the Dublin District Court.
It was Detective Sergeant Basil Grimes of Raheny Garda Station who gave “evidence of arrest, charge and cautioning”.
He said the accused was brought to Clontarf Garda Station at 3am. He was then charged him with the murder of his wife.
What did Stephen Mooney say in court?
The suspect replied ‘No comment’ when he was handed the charge and a true copy of the charge sheet.
There was no bail application made for Stephen Mooney. This is because the District Court cannot grant bail in a murder charge.The bail can only be given by the High Court.
