Who was Denis Kealy?

He was a man in his 40s. Kealy was also a managing director of the Keamc Construction. Dennis Kealy is a stalwart of the Dunshaughlin Gfc.

He was a married man and was married to his wife Christine Kealy.

Dennis Kealy is said to have featured in “the celebrated Dunshaughlin three-in-a-row county SFC successes some 20 years ago”.

Dennis Kealy also supported the Dunshaughlin and Royal Gaels club his capacity as a sponsor.

The Kealys are noted for been Garlic Football family.

How did Denis Kealy die?

He is said to have died in a single vehicle collision.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward.Their spokesperson said: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Dunboyne, County Meath on Saturday, June 24, 2023.

“The single vehicle collision occurred on the R154 at Piercetown near Dunboyne at approximately 2:30pm.

“The driver and sole occupant of the car, a male in his 40s, was removed from the scene by Ambulance to St James’s Hospital, Dublin where he was later pronounced dead.

“The scene is currently closed to traffic to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

“Gardaí in Ashbourne are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

“Any road users who were travelling in on the R154 near Dunboyne at the time of the collision who may have camera footage (including dash cam), is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Ashbourne Garda Station on 01 8010600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”

The Dunshaughlin and Royal Gaels in their Facebook  page said: “It is with deepest sadness and a heavy heart that we write on the sudden and tragic loss of Denis Kealy. Our sincere condolences to the Kealy family, relatives and friends. As a whole community, we would ask that you remember the family at this very difficult time.”

The club has also suspended training and club activities in honor of their sponsor.
