Jason Butler has sadly died from his stabs wounds at the hospital.

But who was Jason Butler?

He was a thirty-two year old man.  He met his untimely death when he was stabbed with a broken bottle at Grand Parade.

This happened around 7.30pm on Wednesday.

He was rushed to the Cork University hospital and has since died from his injuries on Friday.

The stabbing happened around his neck and followed sharply after he was assaulted.

Who is the suspect behind Jason Butler attack?

He is a man in his 20s. He has appeared before a court and has been charged with assault and causing harm.

It is expected that the charge may be upgraded to murder status following the passing of Jason Butler.

Garda who immediately cordoned the place after the attack are now calling for witnesses to come forward.

“Any road users and pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash cam) and were in the area of Grand Parade/Daunt Square between 7:15pm and 8pm on Wednesday, June 14 are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Bridewell Garda station on 021 494 3330, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
